HOLOGRAPHIC TIGER EATS MAN TRESPASSING IN TRAILER PARK is a ten-minute comedy about a man, Gavin Byrne, who comes to collect payment for a microwave purchased by Bessie Cline. Bessie and her daughter Flora terrify the man and drive him off. The play was one of eight winners produced by the Actors' Theatre of Santa Cruz for their 15th Annual Ten-Minute Play Contest.


CHARACTERS

FLORA The daughter, age 17, bright, finished high school unlike her parents, and now she is very pregnant.

GAVIN BYRNE A businessman in his late 30’s or early 40’s, he is dressed in a suit and tie. He is an outsider on uncertain ground in this place.

BESSIE SHE is 33 with a full-figure, blond hair, and a sassy attitude. SHE usually has a cigarette in one hand and a can of Diet Pepsi in the other.


SETTING

The yard outside a trailer in the Southeast Mobile Home Park indicated by a couple of mis-matched lawn chairs and a crate for a table.

The present.

SYNOPSIS

In today’s tight economy Bessie and her daughter Flora have no money and live paycheck to paycheck on what is provided by the man in the family. When a bill collector shows up, they put him through the wringer using a variety of tactics until he gratefully leaves empty handed.
